Basketball. Preferably the best sport in the world. Whether it's shooting baskets or dribbling the ball, each part of basketball represents a part of me. As I and the basketball fans around the world prepare for the upcoming season, there are several basketball players that we are all already to see. Considering Rookie Zion Williamson was the 1st draft pick in the NBA draft there is a lot of hype for him coming into the league. Will he live up to the hype, or will he fold under pressure? That question is somewhat answered considering how good he played in the NBA Summer League, but the actual NBA is a whole new monster. Next player, we can’t wait to see play is former NBA MVP, Giannis Antetokounmpo who came off an amazing season averaging 27.7 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 5.9 assists. The main question for him is if he will keep that competitive fire, or will he get kicked out the second round of the playoffs like he did the previous year. Another player’s NBA skills we can’t wait to see are former MVP candidate James Harden’s. We are all awaiting his new one-legged 3-pointer (that he developed over the off season), that could prove lethal, or a disaster. After coming off a season averaging 36.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 7.5 assists the Houston Rockets are waiting for Harden and the new teammate, Russell Westbrook to carry them through the playoffs. 📷
The next players are Kawhi Leonard and Paul George who are going to the NBA season both joining the same team. Kawhi Leonard left the Raptors after winning a championship because the Raptors needed 1st round picks for the upcoming NBA draft in the season following the 2019-2020 year. With a team that has point guard Patrick Beverly(an awesome defender), shooting guard Louis Williams, small forward Paul George(MVP candidate), power forward Kawhi Leonard, and center Montrezl Harrell, they are a perfect lineup to make the playoffs, and potentially win a championship.
The next player on our list is Stephen Curry who’s dad Dell Curry played in the league and little brother Seth Curry who currently plays in the NBA for the Dallas Mavericks. Based on this it is safe to say that there is a lot of basketball skills in his family. Coming off a killer season averaging 27.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.2 assists he seems prepared for the next season according to the way he played in the preseason workouts. Even though his preseason workouts were good, Steph’s off season was very bad. Over the off season, he lost Kevin Durant, who demanded a trade to the Brooklyn Nets over the off season for a stellar point guard, D’Angelo Russell. He also lost Andre Igoudala who was a faithful Warrior for 6 seasons but got traded to the Memphis Grizzlies for mediocre player Julian Washburn. In addition to this, they also lost their backup point guard in a trade deal with the Lakers. Lastly, he lost Klay Thompson due to a torn ACL in the 2018-2019 Finals. Klay Thompson was the centerpiece of the Warriors alongside Steph because of his three-point shooting and good perimeter defense. So with an entire rearranged team with Steph record another 50/40/90 season(50% field goal percentage, 40% from three, and 90% from the free-throw line, a feat only achieved by 6 other all-time greats), or will he miss out on the playoffs and ruin the Warriors dynasty? I guess we will find out this NBA season.
Overall, I and fans can not wait for the NBA season and everything involved with it like the press conferences for players, players living up to their hype, and who will win the championship. Will it be the new and improved Warriors, the Bucks with MVP Giannis, or the Lakers with Anthony Davis and Lebron James. Will it end up being the Nets who have half of their lineup injured as of right now, or will it be Rockets with triple-double machine Russell Westbrook and 30ppg star James Harden. All of this is unknown, which makes basketball and other sports fun to watch because we get a look inside onto what teams make the playoffs and ultimately win the grand prize of a championship.
