Over the years musicals on and off-Broadway have premiered and closed to entertain the masses. Here are some recently closed and soon to be closed shows on and off-Broadway. Sadly including all the closed and closing off-Broadway would make the list ten times longer so there will only be five (5) shows discussed.

Be More Chill
This Musical made its way to Broadway through the cult following it gathered on social media. The show was about a Junior in high school, named Jeremy Heere, who’s crush mixed with the fact that he is less than popular led him to a Japanese ingestible supercomputer called a SQUIP (an acronym for Super Quantum Unit Intel Processor). The SQUIP aids him in his quest for the girl by making him popular.

The Prom
The prom was a groundbreaking Broadway musical about a girl, named Emma, who was banned from her prom because she wanted to bring her girlfriend to prom. Emma manages to get the attention of the four Broadway actors who try to help, albeit for not very selfless reasons. A fun fact about the show, it was first shown in a theater in Atlanta.

Felix Starro was about a famous Filipino faith healer who goes back to San Francisco to heal those in the Bay Area. Meanwhile, his grandson has his own plans which have the possibility to tear their family apart. The show was the first Off-Broadway musical to be written by a Filipino American.

Even though this show is technically two monologues with solo songs, they were on a double bill (basically a double feature). The shows both showcase the main men (again double bill) dealing with grief and despair, from differing things.

The Broadway musical Beautiful was about Carole King’s rise to stardom, from being a hit songwriting team with her husband, to her relationship with fellow writers, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history.
