Isaac Zuzi's memoir

Updated: Sep 16, 2020

Long ago I learned something and it was to listen to your parents no matter what the circumstance is, I learned it the hard way and they know what's best for you because you’re their child of course. It was a couple of years back, and I was a very young child, about 7 years old. Me, my older sister Vannessa, my older brother Ben and my mom went to Walmart. We came to the store to pick up school supplies for Ben or something and we were wandering around and we wind up in the toy section. There was this Star Wars toy I was in love with and I asked my mom “ Mama, could I have this toy? it’s very cheap.” She then told me “ No, I didn’t come here to get you a toy so put it back, we gotta go look for something. Come on.” I get pretty sad, also a bit angry and I say “I don’t want to follow you, I want this toy!” My mom always spoils the little ones so I felt like I could get my way. “Come on or I will leave you! I promise I will.” my mom gets more mad as I disobey her and face my back to her. As I thought she wouldn't actually leave me, I looked at this Star Wars toy and other toys. After about 5 minutes I look to see my mom, my brother, and my sister GONE. I look down aisles and aisles and they’re nowhere to be found. I tried to keep my cool feeling as my own mother abandoned me. I start walking from the toy section and follow families to make it look like I belong to them, when it gets awkward between me and the families I turn corners. After my only plan failed, I started to cry feeling as if my mom really did leave me. “Was she that angry at me?... I didn’t mean to make her mad..” The thoughts that are going through my head. I walk around the store, sobbing like a baby.

A worker comes to me asking “Are you okay, hun?” by here looks she could tell I’m lost by me being alone and me sobbing. She knew what was going on and asked me “Do you know where momma is?” I shook my head no and led up to another question “What’s mommy’s name?” I also shook my head no and said “I have a brother named Ben.” and I told her my last name. She took me up to the place where they make announcements/call ups for employees and I remember hearing “BEN ZUZI TO THE FRONT OF THE BUILDING FOR ISAAC ZUZI” and she repeated it about 3 times as she should. And my mom, sister, and brother came.

My mom saw me and smiled for 2 things, She was glad she saw me and she knew this was going to happen. I don’t think my mom was evil for giving me this punishment but it’s way worse than getting a whooping because who knows what would happen? The punishment was my mom knowing that I was going to get lost. I know it looks like a bad thing for a mother to do but I learned something to listen to her. I learned a lesson, and it’s to obey your parents no matter what because they know what's best for you.
